Samsung Glyde

samsungglydeThe Samsung Gylde was the 1st touchscreen released by Samsung in 2008, and a competitor to the Run Instinct. It's sweet to have both a touchscreen and full normal keyboard both in one telephone though! The Glyde is a pocket telephone that weighs about 4 oz. and the hi-res display is 440x240 ( a bit bigger than the Voyager ) which is about 2.8 inches.

It's got a camera 2 megapixel and for self portrait shots even a mirror. There's a microSD card slot, and it'll accept the more recent 8GB card - which suggests you can store all types of images and mp3's on it. The keyboard is straightforward to use and pretty solid, and all keys are backlit. You could have no issues using Instant Messaging with the Glyde, if it's's target, MSN, or Windows Live Messenger, and yhou can set it up with your own e-mail account too.

The Glyde can read your essentially read SMS messages to you or do "visual voicemail". Since this is a Verizon telephone you can naturally use all of the sides of their vCAST service. The sole limitation is that you can't watch vCAST Television ( only video clips ). When it comes to music, it'll play mp3's, Windows media, and files from iTunes ( both protected and unprotected AAC files ). Being a multimedia telephone, the Glyde of course supports stereo bluetooth, so that you can get a cordless headset hear music wherever you go! You may also use GPS with the VZ Navigator software, but you will need to pay for it.

The 2 Megapixel camera is capable of taking 1600x1200 pictures, but the video recording is only at 176x144. It seems this is a default options and if you set the video to "save" you can get it to record in 320x240 - which is better. Now you can get one used really moderately. If you're on the lookout for a multimedia telephone on the cheap, this is going to be the right used cell phone for you.
